It Really Is Love ....

From the moment Nikolas first laid on eyes on Mia back in November 2007, it was love.  Infact if I am being totally honest, Nikolas loved her before she was even born. Even though we didn't know what we were having (only my Mum did) Nikolas always knew it was a girl. And told us so!

The very moment they first met at the hospital on 1 November 2007.  That moment was so very special to me!
I guess he felt a connection right from the very beginning.

And over the years as they get older the dynamic continues to change between them.  Nowadays, they fight alot more.  But they really do love each other.

You can just tell by the way they pause for extra long goodbyes with each other at the morning school drop off.  They hug, kiss and say "I love you, have a good day".  And even though that happens every school day, it doesn't get old to me, my heart melts every time.

As well as being brother and sister, they are the best of friends too.  And I never want that to change.

They laugh themselves silly sometimes, they fight over sharing, they bicker about whose turn it is next, they play together, they craft and draw together and love hard for each other.

Nikolas really is a fantastic big brother and loves to teach Mia everything he knows.  It is very special.

I hope they will always share that special bond as the years pass by.  I know they will fight but I hope they get over it five minutes later and continue on with being best friends.

That's what I wish for them!

It's Almost Time ....

The school holidays are almost here again!  They are so close, I can almost smell them!  I love love love school holidays.  I love spending each day with the kids with less routine.  And when the holidays are in spring they are even more enjoyable as we can go back to enjoying some time at the water too.

Last school holidays I did catch up with Claire from Scissors Paper Rock at a forrest close to her house for a picnic lunch.  And just the same as me, she likes to seep the most out of the school holidays and had organised a nature scavenger hunt for the kids.

It was so fun to watch them discover the forrest and collect all the items on the their lists.

And as usual we giggled through lunch and chatted about what adventures we had already enjoyed on the days before.

I cannot wait to find out what adventures we will go on these holidays!

C is for .................... Caring

Caring for others is a massive part of my personality.  It is something I enjoy.  I absolutely love being a mother to my two children and I consider the last eight years that I have been a Mum ...... the best years of my life.

To care for others is also in my nature.  I like to do things for other people.  I like to help out wherever I can.

I love doing things for my friends from looking after their kids, to cooking them meals, helping them move house {even if the drive there and back takes 3 hours}, cleaning their house without them knowing while they are at work, to leaving them a surprise little gift when they least expect it.  I love seeing the look on their face when you do something special for them, it warms my heart.

I have been known to send off little packages of goodness in the mail to friends when they have done something special for me, just to say thanks.  I purposely don't tell them about it just to make the surprise even bigger.  The thank you calls, messages and emails that follow, warm my heart too.

I may have or may not have sent little gifts to the kids of a couple of blog authors that I have grown to know without telling them when to expect it, just to make them smile.

As far back as I can remember, I have always been this way.  And now the kids are at school and kindy I am always helping in the classroom or with fundraising.  It makes me happy to be a part of it all.  I know that sometimes I take on way too much when trying to help out and I often find myself up until midnight stapling raffle tickets, printing, cutting, laminating, co-ordinating and stressing when I know that all the other mums are sleeping cosy in their beds.  But, I am okay with that, I enjoy helping.  I can't help myself, it's who I am.

Just lately (as he gets older) Nikolas has noticed that most days I am eating breakfast around 3pm when I am making the kids their afternoon tea.  He keeps telling me that I need to take care of myself.  He made me stop and and think, that wise little boy. I really do put everything and everyone else before myself and maybe it's time I start taking care of me too.

And because a post isn't a post without a photo ....

How lucky am I that I get to care for my very own special little people.

Missing

It's oh so quiet!  The kids have been gone for the weekend and I am missing them like crazy.

Our weekend has still been busy and has consisted of an early morning drop off for the kids, breakfast with a girlfriend, a spa pedicure, picking up a few groceries, dying my hair, an afternoon/early evening party with friends, date night at the movies, a big sunday morning sleep in, a dvd, some blog design tweaking with the talented Miss Kate and a quiet Sunday at home resting with a cold.

I can't wait to see the kids again this afternoon and hear all about their adventures at the farm.
